10 Tips For Nailing Athleisure

Reebok is a brand I perceive as being quintessentially British. I can remember having a Reebok gym bag at school and my dad always in a pair of Reebok Classics. I’m so glad that they’re still fighting their corner in the fitness world.

I’ve teamed up with Reebok to share my tips for nailing the Athleisure trend. Their new collection on ASOS has so many beautiful pieces, you’d be gutted if you could only wear them to the gym and back. From neons to dresses to onesies to snake print, I think it’s safe to say they’ve got something for everyone.

1. Pop of Colour

Colour is very much welcomed to your outfit. Whether it’s a bright sports bra, side panels on your leggings or a bright bomber, you can’t go wrong with a little pop of colour.

2. Jeans

Another easy way to nail Athleisure is to swap your leggings for jeans. Black skinnies or blue mom jeans work equally as well.

3. Make It Strappy

The fancier your fitness gear looks, the easier it is to work it into an Athleisure outfit. This strappy gym vest is perfect. And the built in sports bra underneath eliminates any “What about my bra straps?” woes.

4. Leather Jacket

One of the easiest ways to take your gym wear to Athleisure territory is to throw on a leather jacket. Go for something classic. Black with a buckle belt and zips.

5. Keep It Flat

If you’re going for a sports bra & leggings, switch the trainers for a pair of boots or slides instead. Athleisure is all about casual comfort. I don’t care what anyone says, joggers & heels do not go together.

6. Add A Shirt

Wear it tied around your waist or buttoned down and hanging off the shoulder for true nonchalance.

7. Sunnies

Getting the accessories right is half the challenge with Athleisure. My main advice is to keep it simple. A good pair of sunnies and your day to day jewellery is enough.

8. Neutral Trainers

Trainers are a key element to most Athleisure looks, but it seems there is an unspoken rule about how far this can stretch. And that rule doesn’t tolerate color. (Fine by me). Play it safe with blacks, whites and nudes.

9. Texture

If colour’s a bit too bold for you, experiment with texture instead. This snake textured zip-up sports bra is so beautiful, you can’t go wrong.

10. Tailored

If you’re worried that the Athleisure look is too casual for you, throw in some tailored pieces. Try adding a blazer or long-line structured coat.
