This is a sponsored post in collaboration with YSL Beauty. All opinions are my own.
So here it is.. my last blog post with hair. And what a post it is. I’m over the moon to be working with YSL again. They have just launched a new limited edition Black Opium bottle – Pure Illusion. The fragrance is still the same deep, rich, coffee based scent we know and love but the bottle has a new look. They have kept the classic black glitter from the original bottle but have integrated the most beautiful baby pink and black chevron pattern. When I saw the bottle I knew straight away I wanted to shoot at Tonight Josephine. The strong feminine influence mixed with a dark and sexy atmosphere. It was a match made in heaven.
Smokey, feminine and sultry: this night-out look is inspired by the new Black Opium Pure Illusion.
A great makeup look starts with the skin. I always moisturise and prime my skin before applying makeup. For this look I used the All Hours Primer & Couture Eye Primer to fill any pores and ensure my makeup stayed on all night.
I have loved and highly recommended every YSL foundation I’ve owned but this is the creme de la creme. It is so incredibly light on the skin but the pigment is so high it gives full coverage using very little product. I’m absolutely smitten. It comes in 22 shades, I’m using shade BD50 at the moment as I’m still rocking my holiday tan.
The concealer is another winner for me. I’m a dedicated Touche Eclat user but the All Hours Concealer is unbeatable for an evening look. The cover is fantastic (trust me I’m rocking some serious dark circles at the moment) and it does not budge. It’s available in 6 shades, I use shade 2.
Highlight & Contour
Probably the most important element to any night out look.
For my contour I used the Couture Contouring pallet, in shade 2 – Rosy Contouring, across the sides of my nose, the hollows of my cheeks and my jawline.
For my highlight I used the light side of the Couture Contour along my cheekbones and down the center of my nose. Then for an extra pop I used my long time favourite the Touche Eclat Glow Shot, in shade 1 – Daylight. This is an absolute hero product of mine, I cannot recommend it more. It gives the perfect dewy glow without being glittery. It’s been part of my daily makeup routine for months now.
For an evening look I prefer not to use blush but I still wanted to add a little colour to my cheeks so I used the Les Sahariennes Sun Kissed Blur Perfector, in shade 3, on the apples of my cheeks and over the tip of my nose to act as a more subtle, natural blush.
Eyes & Brows
To add some drama to my evening look I opted for a smokey eye. I used the Couture Variation Palette in shade 2 – Tuxedo. As my eyes are quite small and dark I focused the shadow below the crease of my eyelid and under my eyes, making sure the darker tones were to the outer edge of my eye, keeping the inner eye bright and sparkly. I then added a touch of the Full Metal Shadow in shade 1 – Grey Splash to mimic the dark glitter on the bottle.
For my liner I used the Dessin Du Regard Waterproof Liner, in shade 1 – Noir Effronte, for my waterline. This liner is perfect for an evening out, especially if you’re a drunk crier (guilty as charged). No night look would be complete without a killer flick. I created mine using the Couture Eyeliner, in shade 1 – Noir Minimal Mat. Trust me when I tell you this is the ONLY dip liquid liner I can use without making a mess. The tip is so thin, the consistency is perfect and it dries so quickly, I love it.
To finish my eye look I used the Vinyl Couture Mascara in shade 1 – I’m The Clash, for my night look I use two coats for the perfect thick fluttery lashes. To give my eye look a lil something extra, I finished with a coat of the Vinyl Couture Mascara Top Coat, shade 7 – I’m The Storm, this shade is an exact match the dark glitter on the bottle and looks incredible when the light hits. Before I used it I had no idea a Mascara Top Coat even existed but my word, I have used it every single day since it arrived. I am normally prone to mascara smudges all over my lids and under eyes, severe panda problems, but this has stopped that completely. It does not budge! If you suffer with smudges too, you need this.
My brows are pretty much covered by my fringe when I wear my hair like this so I don’t need to worry about them too much. I just quickly filled them in with the Couture Brow Pallette, in shade 2 – Medium to Dark, and then used the Couture Brow Gel, in shade Brun Dore, to fan out my brows and give them an effortless feathered look.
Saving the best ’til last. On my lips I used the Tatouage Matte Stain Lip Gloss, in shade 11 – Rose Illicit. This baby pink shade matches the interior at Tonight Josephine and the chevrons on the Pure Illusion bottle perfectly. The Tatouage range is a dream come true, super matte and super pigmented. Just like Black Opium it lasts all night, it’s everything I look for in a lip product. They’re not available just yet but will be out on the 27th September so be sure to keep an eye out for them!
I teamed my makeup look with layered necklaces, a little black dress (my go-to) and a pair of biker boots. A feminine rock vibe is the perfect match for Black Opium Pure Illusion.
With La Laque Couture, shade 73 – Noir Over Noir, on my nails and a final spray of Black Opium Pure Illusion, my look is complete.
The scent itself is perfect for an evening out, it has two of my favourite scents; coffee & cedar. Although both scents are very deep and strong, the fragrance is balanced perfectly with jasmine and orange blossom. It’s truly stunning and so distinctive it can turn heads. If you’re looking for a statement scent I urge you to try it! The best part – it will last all night. There’s no need to take the bottle with you.
I had so much fun creating and shooting this look. I hope you like it!
